Sound Tossing / This.Play Space / 29.09, 12:00 - 18:00
Sound Tossing is an alternative type of street art that uses sound as a medium of creative expression in a public space. As the streets belong to the people, the intention is to appeal to anyone who wants to shape their acoustic space. While street art has a rich history in terms of the formation of the urban landscape, mainly through the appropriation of wall space, Sound Tossing offers a way to play with urban aesthetics through filling space with unique acoustic input. It provides new ways of adding meaning to public spaces.
walks. discoursive city-walks with experts in science, arts and everyday life
The “protected” and well-known exhibition spaces are abandoned and the city as a whole is understood as a playing field - a place for projects, artistic interventions and urban new media arts. Discoursive city walks with experts in science, arts and everyday life” explores the venues and locations of the festival, as well as its surroundings with “walking as a method”.
VRMC - Beta - Vireal Rebel Mobilecycle Club / Urania / 22.09, 15:00
VRMC is a mobile artistic application (mobile app) which focuses on the blending of real and virtual space. Using digital media, data is deposited in local (real) space, creating new virtual contexts in the urban environment. VRMC playfully communicates new forms of applications for urban communication and enables new viewpoints on virtual and real space. In parallel, artistic methods are used to demonstrate the virtual information overflow.

Future Fluxus / Urania / 29.09.2011, 19:00 - 23:00
The project Future Fluxus is an experiment on many layers of cultural memory. Like it should be, one should add, if it is true that, in many European countries, and since at least 1995, we have been fed back by diverse forms of online cultures that, so it is said and believed, actually, are developing 4-8 times faster than analogue cultures. Are we to be scared now?
Games Culture Circle / Urania / 30.09.2011, 19:00 - 23:00
Since 2009, “A MAZE.” presents the talk show “Games Culture Circle” (GCC) in cooperation with the Computer Games Museum in Berlin. Moderated by Uke Bosse, it offers a forum and meeting place for artists, game designers, musicians, directors and players from the media and cultural landscape and discusses interdisciplinary topics of digital game culture in front of an open-minded audience. It is not our aim to produce academic jibber-jabber, but to create an authentic exchange of experiences, opinions and visions. http://www.facebook.com/parasew/posts/203543233047363
INCUBATE! / Urania / 28.09.2011, 19:00 - 23:00
Large parts of the industrials areas, ports or railway sites lost their functions and orphaned. During the last years many of them disappeared and became residential areas, business parks and the like. But there are still numerous sites that await a new function. The need for cheap, extraordinary space for people nowadays called „creative class“ and the rising importance of the „creative industries“ increased the attention for those old industrial sites.
MISS BALTAZAR’S LABORATORY / This.Play Space / 27.09, 12:00 - 18:00
Invisible censoring urban space makes marginalized artists disappear, in particular female developers. Coded Cultures offers a platform to share skills and practices and take space to celebrate free access to tools of expression and production. If you love to make things, rather than consuming them, meet up at Mz Baltazar's to share your skills.

Viennese Symptoms / This.Play Space / 28.09, 12:00 - 18:00
Activities will include the dowsing, scrying and divining of buboes on the skin of the city, the rubbing, tracing and excavation of these sites (inscription and playback of the stone tape using self-built apparatus) towards the collective production of a strange hybrid of archaeologists/ forensics report, an essay in self-observation and social questionnaire.
The 120days of *buntu / This.Play Space / 30.09, 12:00 - 18:00
The 120days of *buntu is a mash-up of 120 different Ubuntu operating systems (OS). It works from the source code of popular Linux/GNU and redistributes modified software through the Internet and through a new distribution model, the so called Street-Sneaker-Net inspired by the illegal CD/DVD sellers in the streets of São Paolo, Brazil. Computer operating systems are imposing many rules and dogmas onto the ordinary user; thus an OS becomes an inescapable device of our control-driven social environment.

Paranoid Steganography -or- Credulous Reverse Engineering / This.Play Space / 25.09, 12:00 - 18:00
Paranoid Steganography is an intentionally naive approach to interpreting signals and symbols. It combines the techniques of cryptographic analysis and reverse engineering with the premise that there are secret messages everywhere. Workshop participants will build simple antennae to capture ambient electro-magnetic signals. These signals will be fed into a laptop which will then translate them based on our paranoid mapping to sound or images.
Open Frameworks / PS ArtSpace / 24.09, 14:00 - 20:00
Over two days we’ll walk through complete examples introducing the OpenFrameworks system. Together we’ll build a simple drawing application, do image processing, learn how to network an installation using OSC, and program interactivity using real time face detection. The second day will be an open coding jam where participants will be free to begin pursuing bigger projects. We’ll be there to debug and give guidance on tackling your ideas.
